“We are like water, aren’t we? We can be fluid, flexible when we have to be. But strong and destructive too.” And something else I think to myself. Like water, we mostly follow the path of least resistence.” – Wally Lamb, We Are Water
I’ve been reading more lately, something I didn’t anticipate happening for awhile (hello newborn!). I had forgotten about all of the “calming” stroller walks one takes in these early days. For me, these walks usually lead to a coffee shop (with a book in tow, of course). Those hours are just as peaceful to me as they are to my baby.. precious hours I am gifted to immerse my mind in pages of story.
I’m starting up classes again next month and I could not be more excited. This is the year I take important steps in a direction I’ve been dancing around for years. I think Lamb’s quote above is right, we do tend to follow the path of least resistance. I believe, however, that everyone (at least once in their lifetime) runs against the current. Because we all have it in us. We just have to believe we can do it.
