Have you heard the incredible story of Vivian Maier? A full-time nanny living in Chicago in the 60’s, Vivian kept her passion for photography a secret, from every single person in her life. She’s captured over 100,000 portraits of street life with her Rolleiflex, which were only discovered a few years ago, following her death. A real estate agent purchased her storage trunk at an auction (for $380!) which was filled with negatives. Her work has since been recognized and celebrated from photographers, artists and collectors everywhere, making her one of America’s most accomplished street photographers. Below is the trailer for the documentary, “Finding Vivian Maier” and some of her work after the jump. I especially love the way she captures the young and old. There is something beautifully, intimate about each capture.
