a letter to my sixteen-year-old self.

Dear sixteen-year-old self,

I realize that you think you know everything already but having lived double your time, I have a bit of advice that will possibly make your life a little easier.

1.  Try not to challenge mom so much.
I know it’s cliche, but mom really does know best. Every little thing she has predicted will come true. And you know what?  Your life will be better for it.  You’ll see.

2. Stay fascinated by words.
Keep reading, writing and don’t be afraid to share your thoughts with the world. These things will not only bring you constant joy but they will enrich your life in more ways than you can imagine.

3.  The pain you are feeling will subside.
In fact, it will indirectly teach you some of the most valuable lessons of your life. You are suffering through a difficult loss right now but there is no reason for you to feel cheated. As you will soon realize, there is no shortage of love in your life. Through this experience your family will gain a strength and closeness so great  that there will never be a day where you take them for granted.

Always search for the light.
It will be difficult at times but be as positive as you possibly can be. Once you learn to change your thoughts everything else in your life will follow suit. And before you know it you will be a thirty-two year old woman, surrounded by countless blessings and life  will only have just begun.
